IMAGE EDITING
Image editing – crop, mask, and enhance images in the browser
Upload images, crop and resize them, apply masks and shape clipping, remove backgrounds in one click, and arrange them precisely on the canvas. All image edits stay fully editable and export exactly as they appear in your design.
Image editing in Polotno Studio lets users upload images, place them on the canvas, and modify them directly in the browser. Every change updates in real time, and all controls work the same way across photos, illustrations, and graphics. The editor keeps image layers fully editable at all times. Polotno Studio is a free browser-based image and video editor, so you can upload and adjust visuals without any registration flow.
ㅤ
Uploading and managing images
Users can upload images from their device and place them anywhere on the canvas. Uploaded images behave like normal canvas layers, allowing free movement, resizing, and reordering. Replacing an image preserves its position and size so layouts stay intact.
ㅤ
Cropping
The crop tool lets users isolate any part of an image without changing the original file. Cropping opens a live handle interface on the canvas, and the resulting cropped region becomes the visible portion. Users can adjust or remove the crop at any time since the underlying image stays intact.
ㅤ
Resizing and transforming
Images can be resized freely or proportionally by dragging the corner handles. Rotation, flipping, and general transformation behave the same way as other canvas layers. Scaling never destroys the original file; it only changes how the image is rendered on the canvas.
ㅤ
Masks and shape clipping
Image masks allow users to place an image inside a predefined shape. Applying a mask clips the image according to the shape’s outline while keeping both the mask and the image editable. Users can reposition or scale the image inside the mask without affecting the mask shape itself.
ㅤ
Background removal
Polotno Studio supports one-click background removal for photos. The system isolates the subject and produces a transparent version of the image. Once processed, the resulting image behaves like any other layer and can be edited, resized, transformed, or masked normally.
ㅤ
Layer behavior and layout control
Images can be stacked, grouped, aligned, and positioned precisely. They work with snapping, guides, and all standard arrangement tools. Reordering layers changes visual stacking without altering any other properties.
ㅤ
Export consistency
All image edits are preserved during export. Crops, masks, transformations, and background-removed results appear exactly as displayed on the canvas in PNG, JPG, PDF, MP4, GIF, and other supported formats.
