Polotno works with Shopify in two ways. Merchants can install Polotno Product Image Editor, a free app that edits product images inside the Shopify admin. Teams building their own Shopify apps and storefronts can embed the same editor with the Polotno SDK and shape it around their product.
Polotno Product Image Editor for merchants
The app adds Edit image with Polotno to the More actions menu on every product page. Pick one of the product's images and a full design editor opens in the admin with that image on the canvas.
- Add headlines, sale badges, shapes and backgrounds.
- Crop, flip and adjust the image.
- Replace original updates the image in place and keeps its position on the product.
- Save as new image adds the edit to the product and leaves the original untouched.
The image never leaves Shopify. Editing happens in the browser, and the result goes straight to the store's own file storage. The app stores only what Shopify needs to keep it installed, and it does not access customer data. See the Shopify app privacy policy.
Set up
- Install Polotno Product Image Editor from the Shopify App Store.
- Open any product in Products.
- Choose More actions → Edit image with Polotno and pick an image.
There is nothing to configure.
Build your own Shopify editor with the Polotno SDK
The app is built on the Polotno SDK, the embeddable design editor behind Polotno. If your Shopify app or storefront needs editing that goes beyond product photos, the SDK gives you the same editor as a component you own:
- Product personalization. Shoppers customize a product on your storefront, and you attach the finished design to the order.
- Print-ready output. Export designs as images or PDF files for your print partner. See the print-on-demand integrations.
- Your workflow, your UI. Choose which panels and tools appear, load your own templates and assets, and keep your branding.
- Server-side rendering. Generate images from saved designs without opening the editor.
The editor runs in the browser and works with the stack you already use, including the Shopify app templates.
